ANNOUNCEMENT!! JAMB Reveals New Method Of Registration

Image
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says starting from 2020, candidates will register for its examinations with their National Identity Management Number (NIM) to solve the challenges of multiple registration. Dr. Fabian Benjamin, Head of Media of the board made this known at a one-day capacity building workshop organised by the National Examination Council (NECO) for education correspondents in Keffi, Nasarawa on Friday. Benjamin, who spoke on the topic: “Understanding Reporting in the 21st Century”, said the development would be facilitated through partnership with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC). According to him, experience has shown that malpractice in the conduct of public examination, especially the UTME, actually begins with the registration exercise. “Four days ago, we cancelled results of four candidates because of examination malpractices we discovered after the examination. “The board is on top of the situation as it has the d...

Egypt University Overturns Expulsion Of Student Over Hug

Image
Everything you need to live well An Egyptian university has overturned its decision to expel a male student over hugging his female friend on campus, in an incident that sparked controversy in the conservative country. The young man appeared in a video carrying a bouquet of flowers kneeling before a woman and then hugging her, in what was meant to be a marriage proposal. The footage was widely circulated online earlier this month and initially prompted the expulsion of both students from their respective universities. But late Tuesday the Mansoura University in northern Egypt, where the video was shot, reversed its decision to exclude the male student for two years. The student’s appeal against the expulsion included “his apology for the act committed, a pledge to not repeat it and to commit to the university’s values and ethics,” a university statement said. It cited the student’s young age, concern for his future and his unfamiliarity with the university’s rules,...

ASUU strike: Muslim students tell Nigerian govt what to do

Image
The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) has appealed to the Federal Government to accede to current demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) by stating the timeline on the promises made. This, the organisation said it would bring a quick resolution to the ongoing dispute between the striking academic workers union and the government. MSSN in a statement signed by the Amir (President) of Lagos State Area Unit, Dr Saheed Ashafa, urged the government to embrace this opportunity to end the strike. Ashafa in the statement forwarded to DAILY POST Tuesday evening, said, “We feel ASUU is considerate enough if they can agree to call off the strike after getting concrete evidence of commitment from the government. “I don’t see anything difficult for government to come out in clear terms on when they will redeem their pledge. “They must be factual if they are sincere. “This is a good opportunity to end this strike. It’s now left for the government to emb...

2019 Election – JAMB Registrar Speaks On Exams Date

Image
The registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Ishaq Oloyede, has said that the 2019 general elections would not affect the board’s 2019/2020 examination. He made this remark while fielding questions from journalists shortly after delivering the 2018 Annual Sobo Sowemimo Lecture of the Abeokuta Club in Abeokuta. Mr Oloyede said since the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had given the dates of the elections, then the board would only need to adjust accordingly. “I don’t think there will be any need for a shift in the examination date because of the 2019 general elections. I believe INEC has done well by giving us a prior notice six months ago. “They have given us the date of the elections. So we have no excuse not to have adjusted. We have adjusted appropriately,” he said. Mr Oloyede decried the rate at which candidates, who were not qualified to write the examination applied for it, thereby, causing what he described as “unnecessary ...
